IntelliJ is really good at working with multi-line string values in Java code, including SQL embedded as a String. It only really works with Java 1.8 or greater. You can easily set Global/User settings and workspace level settings. It's fast, can handle large files (gracefully disables syntax highlighting etc) With the shortcuts and command palette, I very very rarely have to touch my mouse while inside the IDE. It works the same way in both with the same plugins. I Jump between Windows and OSX/macOS multiple times a day. Never was a large fan of IntelliJ or Netbeans, but used them as needed for work.
